The defined elements in his style are dense warrior rhythms syncopated with energy-induced melodics. A master of his craft, his passion and exuberance can be witnessed in his live performances, banging out intricate percussion on analog/digital hardware with extreme precision.
Baseck has showcased his talent through out Europe, Mexico, Japan, and North America, and worked with the likes of Genesis P. Orridge (Throbbing Gristle), cEvin Key (Skinny Puppy), Clipping., Doormouse, DJ Pierre, Damo Suzuki, Otto Von Schirach, and Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails), all the while wearing the influence of the early 90's L.A. Rave scene on his sleeve. Doug Lynner
San Francisco Bay Area composer/performer Doug Lynner is known for his intimate, “In-The-Circuit” modular synthesizer performance style. That style, combined with his devotion to the intrinsic value of sound, has given birth to his “Living Synthesis” compositions: part fixed composition, part improvisation, and part circuit immersion. Doug received a BFA in Music Composition from the California Institute of the Arts where his mentors were Morton Subotnick, Harold Budd, James Tenney, Leonid Hambro and Nicholas England. There he recorded on the Buchla 200 and began a lifelong relationship with Serge Tcherepnin. He was the editor and publisher of Synapse Magazine, the first electronic music magazine, and is known for his "Patch of The Week" modular synthesizer video tutorial series. |
Haptic Synapses
A group of electronic musicians and artists founded in 2006 based in the heart of Silicon Valley. Preparation for their epic live sets is minimal, so what is seen and heard is a realtime expression of their collective aesthetic. Their style bridges techno and house while incorporating abstract polyrhythms, generative algorithms, and patterns. They are musicians, engineers, builders, makers, technicians who form the heartbeat of Silicon Valley. James Cigler
After many years of playing guitar and bass in punk and hardcore bands, James Cigler (aka Jim Drones, Felix Inferious) started exploring experimental compositions using synthesizers, soon falling headlong into the world of modular synthesis. An early adopter of Eurorack format modulars, he became a well known member of the growing community thanks to his many demo videos explaining modular synthesis approaches and the functionality of many popular modules. The last few years have seen him refining his dark cinematic sonic textures into emotive ambient pieces that seem to calm as much as they can unsettle. Mike Dobler
Los Angeles-based performer of live synthesizers concurrent with emerging hardware technology. He performs on Eurorack modular systems with a focus on chaos, spontaneity, entropy, and maybe a bassdrum too. Recently performed at Moogfest 2016 as part of the Modular on the Spot team as well as Binary's SubZERO Festival stage. |
