a collection of quality original synth music
Here is a collection of original recordings submitted by talented producers and performers from across the world. Putting on fewer shows, it's difficult to find enough stage time for all of the exceptional performers out there. Creating a showcase for them is a way to create an enduring place for many people to hear their work.
These music selections were played during changeovers between sets during the Binary 09 show at Vinyl Dreams for Robotspeak's Annual Synth Meet. This could easily be the lineup for a couple Binary shows, and I'm excited to share their work with you. Enjoy! |

markt (Scotland) |
Mark Thomson hails from SW Scotland. Originally a guitarist, he has gravitated towards modular synthesis as a means of having a more expansive palette of tones, textures & timbres and to take a different approach to composing and performing. 10:00 has been released as a split single via German Shepherd Records and is available as a digital download through the usual outlets.

Chris Otchy (San Francisco) |
Chris is based in and inspired by the natural beauty and sonic textures of Northern California.
A member of the New York synth pop outfit Soviet as well as former keyboardist for The Stills, he released his debut album, "Tidepool" in April, 2016. |
Filth Milk (Oakland) |
For seventeen years, the sideways smile of Filthmilk's Erich Fendler has tilted the earth on which San Francisco live music slips and slides. Besides hauling his generator to countless shows at the wave organ, Toxic Tire Neach, Potrero del Sol, Golden Gate Park and 5lowershop shows, it's always the Filthmilk set laying bare the committed absurdity and caustic love combusting in the engine of all Bay Area experimental music. Well seasoned engines can develop fascinating new noises, the supercharged cello of Colleen Twitty now melts the tires beneath Fendler's synthwork as Filthmilk tilts the lines once more, navigating head on traffic to kiss all your crossing chickens on the lips.

Filthmilk's next show is 11/28 at La Cita in Los Angeles. |
Franck Martin (France, Fiji) |
Franck Martin draws his inspiration from the works of Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tangerine Dreams and also from various artists like Iannis Xenakis and Hughes Le Bars. His first album, released in 2016, is a timid exploration of the tools for Electronic Music Production. Some tracks are influenced by the years he spent in Fiji and in the Pacific Islands and were often composed during his travels.
|
His second album, released in 2017, is a continuation of this exploration. It is drawing more from the avant-garde electronic music and modular synthesizer community of San Francisco and Berkeley. This community in itself is influenced by the instruments of Don Buchla and Dave Smith, but also by composers like Morton Subotnick and Suzanne Ciani. Franck Martin continues his exploration in the creation and production of electronic music, whilst meeting other fellow artists from San Francisco and the world."
